Left home at 7 a.m and the skies were blue and it wasn’t too cold. Snow capped Fuji san looking awesome to my right. The sun in my eyes to the front of me. Arrived at 7:30. 4 of us took off for the warm up but they stopped at Noda bridge to wait for the cycling group and I went ahead to Shinzakaya and waited for the racing groups to arrive. I realized today that my saddle was a bit low, so raised it almost a cm while I waited.
A nice sprint back with 80% of it, a tailwind, that I swear switched to a head wind within the last km. Somehow I managed to hold everybody off for the win but the top speed was miserably low. I couldn’t fgure out why nobody was going to fly past me near the finish line as I had ran out of gas well before it. The headwind may have got them as well?
My 20kms of jogging pain was still lingering but I’m sure there was added power in my legs because of it.
I was determined to win today as I got dropped last week.
Cadence not too bad. Heart peaking on the finish line. Average speed not great but there is about 7 minutes of my cool down there at the end. We were racing at about 35 to 37 to 40+ Top speed (44kph) slow at the end but my little burst away scared off any chasers. If they were to follow they would have easily passed me.
On arrival home my weight was 86kg.
59km on the meter and planning to test my new running shoes this afternoon.
Good luck to those riding in the 100km Motegi race today. Wish I was there.
