Was hard to get out of bed, but I’d gotten all my stuff ready so was easy to get out the door and onto the freezing cycling path that is Edogawa. I was already running late so I spun fast and got there in time and well warmed up. (Nagareyama Bridge).
We split into groups of 6 and headed North. Here are the cycling group who ride as far as Noda bridge.
Here are the ones who like to test their speed. We head a further 3kms north to the Shinzakaya shop for this photo a quick sports drink then split into groups from fastest to slowest. There were 2 groups today fast and slower. I wisely picked the slower group.
I know my motivation has dropped this month but I’ve kept busy with night training & a bit of jogging. Yet, I was really slow today. A bit of a Westerly cross wind that never helps but I just couldn’t get into t rhythm. The warm up was even hard as we went at about 30 to 34 on the way up the river that burnt me out.
Coming back it was hard to even hold that pace. We went to 40 a bit and then to 46. I got dropped with about 1km to go. Too hard. My thighs are still pumped tonight some 12 + hour later. A banana for breakfast was probably not enough and I may have been dehydrated. Dieting and exercising at the same time is a tricky formula to juggle and not sure if it is even possible.
On the way home I went in the opposite direction to Matsudo bridge then headed home. 75km round trip. Strong head wind on the way home.
To keep my weight moving down I’m going to kick off the new year with ‘The Cyclical Ketogenic Diet’!
I have to dissolve this belly that gets in the way of my pedaling and hogs the camera when pictures are being taken. Carbs after or before exercising but basically a low carb, high protein and fat diet. Will probably eat lots of mackerel till I figure out the best mix of foods available to me in Japan.
Current weight 84kg.
