Just having a break from the KevRock 2009 and emptying out my camera SD card so I can go back and see the Hoodoo Gurus perform later on tonight.

Japanese band the Pinky Piglets brought the house down.

There were about 4 little vans selling food: curries, hotdogs, yakisoba etc, so I had a good feed. My 5 drink coupons didn’t last long and was lucky to get a beer from Shibuya Tim too. Thanks Tim, hope you made it home OK and too bad you missed the main act.
I was so impressed with the Pinky Piglets I went to their little shop and bought two of their CDs. Will give them to my kids after I load them into my ipod.

I felt a bit out of place being amongst so many Aussies and other gaijin. I only ever see that many when I go to funerals these days. (4 years ago).

The event was an invitation only gig and I had no invitation on arrival to Hakuba on Friday. So what to do? I contacted the 2 or 3 out of the 5 or 6 people that I kind of know up here.
1) Invitation only sorry don’t know.
2) Invitation only but I’ll ask the guy and bring a ticket around to you. (never heard back).
3) Always have a three pronged form of attack. While I was waiting around for #2 to call me back I sent off an email to the Hoodoo Gurus head office in Sydney. This morning about 9 a.m they sent me an email telling me ‘Invitation only, sorry…..but………..your name is on the list!!! Bring some I.D’.

Somebody invited me…

I went around to see what was going on and asked the girl at the table if my name was on the list. ‘Nup, but don’t worry, we are pretty disorganized around here, it’s free but you need to buy some drink coupons…’ just bought my 5 drink tickets and got fitted with a day pass wrist band and I was set to go.
