13 riders made it to the start and NO RAIN!!!
I said to myself at the 10km mark… ‘it gets tough between the 15km to 20km mark and then it gets easy till the last lap…so just hold on till the 20km mark…’
This kind of mental image training is sometimes programming yourself to fail… got dropped at about the 19.92km point…
The wind was tough which is always a problem with my aerodynamics and the pace was quite tough between the 15-20km mark and yes, I have ridden almost zilch so far this year and put on a few kilos (again)….
The yo-yoing of over exercising, over training, followed by under eating and under training really confuses the hell out of the body’s metabolism. My work schedule too and the crazy weather patterns are also a factor. No work Monday (except what I can drum up myself), moderate Tuesday, hard Wednesday, easy Thursday and then a killer Friday that knocks me out till about Saturday noon. Like a roller coaster every week.
I think I’m also suffering from a form of Сhronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Always tired no matter what. The last time I felt really fit and healthy with an abundance of energy was back in 1996. I had lost about 12kgs that year by following the principles of the Fit For Life books written byHarvey Diamond and his wife. It was a diet high in fruit and vegetables and low in dairy, meat and other proteins. Not completely vegetarian but the more vegetarian you went the quicker the results and the healthier you felt. I was going great until I took a trip back to Australia and went off course feasting on all that Aussie food I’d missed out on while living away from home for so long and then heading back to a Japan winter where fruit for breakfast was hard to manage with snow outside…. I’ve always wanted to get back to that feeling of high energy, while living at my perfect natural weight. You could eat as much as you like as well provided you stuck to the rules. Read the Amazon customer reviews for a better appraisal.
That being said, I want to use a bit more protein than the Fit For Life allows as well as eggs. Harvey was very anti-egg.
I have been looking at the Paleo diet now which seems to be a lot like the Fit For Life but takes out a lot of the grains and adds in more meat, fish and chicken.
The Paleo diet follows pretty much the same principals as FFL and makes just as much sense. Both methods point out that fruit and vegetables are the best foods and that manufactured foods are to be avoided.
Simple and easy.
The problems are with shopping and avoiding the bad habit foods. Hard to say no as well when you have cookies presented to you at a friend’s house or somebody makes you a nice meal with all the stuff you shouldn’t be eating.
Lots of preparation and discipline.
I have about a year’s supply of protein powder and vitamin tablets too to get through…they aren’t too natural!
