On March 20th at home:

Lunar and Sora would like to announce the birth of their first litter. Seven Samurai Airedale Puppies.(Actually 3 were born on the 19th)

At about 8pm I could hear a kitten like noise coming from Lunar’s indoor kennel. I ignored it for a while as I thought it was Lunar or Sora whimpering for me to let them out or to have a pat. As it persisted I went to have a look and to my surprise was a little baby in there and blood all over the place. Lunar wanted to take it outside to the outdoor kennel but it was too cold out and dark. I got her and the pup into the lounge room while I ran around like a chicken with my head chopped off trying to figure out what to do. Grabbed some towels and then got the old dog play pen out and set it up.

About an hour later number 2 came out. The first two weighed about 350gm. An hour later number three. Number three was much smaller than the first two at only 250gm. Then number four at about 12:15p.m. I went to bed around 2:30 a.m thinking that was the last of them. At about 6:20 in the morning out came number five.  Nine thirty number six. I then went to the home center to get some dog milk for the small fella as he wasn’t taking to the teat.  While I was out number seven must have arrived as there were seven when I got home around 10:30 a.m.

We are keeping Sora away from them but he can smell them on me. Lunar is acting protective, I’m sure she won’t take kindly to Sora trying to eat them.
