Today’s Route on Garmin Connect
After taking the dogs for a morning walk to the local river I did my favorite ride of all time today. Past Hakuba station, up 406 to the top in 34 minutes 45 seconds. (didn’t break my record). A 2 minute breather then through the tunnel and down the 406 towards Nagano.
At the 18km point I take a secret road up the Ogawa mountain range. There are lots of bears in here. Luckily, yesterday I bought a bell to scare the bears away with. Unluckily, I didn’t fit it to my bike yet! I have to walk a lot of this road (if you can call it a road) due to rubble and wetness. Due to the rain the uphill riding is hard as the back wheel spins and the downhill is scary as well. Was very careful not to crash today.
Once at the top of Ogawa I followed the river all the way down to the bottom. A quick can of Coke then the 20km climb back up to Hakuba.

All up 50km. Took about 3 hours. Some more sightseeing at Goryu on the way home. Did all that on a liquid only day.
