I prayed for rain in hope that I wouldn’t have to push my lazy bones around again like I did last night.
The weather report had rain on the radar right on start time.
Not one to just not turn , I got ready, left 30 minutes early and did a semi-warm-up. A few slow kilometers.
I then decided to play with my seat and handle bar positions. Got my mini tool out and started to loosen up all the necessary bolts. First I moved my saddle back as far as possible. I want to stretch my back out a bit more. The seat position looks quite ridiculous when viewed from the side. I then took off the handle bars and put the 2cm spacer under to raise the bars.
When I remounted it of course felt like a different bicycle. I then got back to my warm up to see how this would feel.
This may also cause a few problems and I’m not sure if I’ll keep this set-up for long. My center of gravity is different now. The pedal stroke feels different. I feel like I’m reaching forward with my pedaling rather than an up and down motion. (seat is back that far).
I could feel though an immediate improvement in my stance. My chest was lower and my back was flatter. I will se what happens. I suspect some calf muscle strains if I push myself.
Then a team mate turned up with about 20 minutes before kick-off.
I continued with my slow warm-up getting used to my new bike.
Then my dream came true. Rain drops started to splotter here and there. I was rescued.
We talked for about 15 minutes in the rain about training, the upcoming Hitachinaka race, other teams…and a possible repeat training on Thursday night. Then we departed as the rain got heavier.
In all, 10kms of warming up.
