Just spent 24 days in Australia.
Winter.
Food.

Family.
Food.

More Food.
Been 5 years since I had been home and the main reason was to spend it with my father who suffered a bad stroke in May.
I made it for his birthday and also for his first unaided walks after close to 3 months of rehab.
Was very sad to say good bye but that has made me more determined to go back to Aus more often now.
Riding in Aus:
It has improved a great deal. Only once was I blasted by a horn. It was a beauty too. The passenger in the car, let’s call him Super Yobbo, had a sports air horn for sounding full time at the footy. He thought it would be hilarious to sound full time at my side as I was half way up climbing a hill. He was lucky I didn’t catch him at the next set of traffic lights. I was prepared to do some damage. Besides that it was great. Plenty of cycling lanes. Lots of signs for motorists to beware of cyclists. Much like the beware of bears signs they have here in Japan.
I only got in 3 rides for a total of 84 odd km. Was too cold or rainy on many days or I was just too busy eating, meeting old friends or family.
Thanks to my brother and sister for letting me bunk down in their homes and to my dad for being my dad. Hope you get to come to Japan next year too. (Dad’s 80th).
Fish n’ chips, sausage rolls, meat pies, beers, lamb roasts, hamburgers, Thai restaurant, Italian restaurant, Chinese restaurant, cappuccinos, kebabs, donuts, sister and brother’s home cooked meals, ice cream, amounted to about 3.5kgs of extra body luggage on the return journey.
Got two weeks now to burn it all off again. Will put some pics and video footage in here tomorrow.
